This mechanical pressure is achieved by the two jaws of the crusher of which one is fixed while the other reciprocates. A jaw or toggle crusher consists of a set of vertical jaws, one jaw is kept stationary and is called a fixed jaw while the other jaw called a swing jaw, moves back and forth relative to it, by a cam or pitman mechanism, acting like a class II lever or a nutcracker. The volume or cavity between the two jaws is called the crushing chamber. The movement of the swing jaw can be quite small, since complete crushing is not performed in one stroke. The inertia required to crush the material is provided by a flywheel that moves a shaft creating an eccentric motion that causes the closing of the gap. Jaw crushers are heavy duty machines and hence need to be robustly constructed. The outer frame is generally made of cast iron or steel. The jaws themselves are usually constructed from cast steel. They are fitted with replaceable liners which are made of manganese steel, or Ni-hard (a Ni-Cr alloyed cast iron). Jaw crushers are usually constructed in sections to ease the process transportation if they are to be taken underground for carrying out the operations.

The two most popular pieces of aggregate equipment in the market include cone crushers and jaw crushers. While cone crushers and jaw crushers both perform a similar job of breaking rocks, their approach and applications are quite different. Introducing The Jaw Crusher. These burly machines act as a primary crusher for mining and processing ore.

Jaw Crushers. Jaw Crushers are used to reduce the size of many different types of materials in many applications. The Jaw Crusher was first introduced by Eli Whitney Blake in 1858 as a double-toggle Jaw Crusher. Introduced in 1906, McLanahan’s Universal Jaw Crusher was one of the first modern era overhead eccentric Jaw Crushers.

If I can place it in the crusher cavity (even if it look like a Volkswagen) and actually or eventually crush it, does it qualify as ‘ideal crusher feed’? The answer is NO! Jaw Crushers don’t just eat anything. You can’t just feed a jaw crusher everything you can fit in the trucks feeding it.

The Dodge-Jaw Crusher : In the Dodge Crusher, the moving jaw is pivoted at the bottom. The minimum movement is thus at the bottom and a more uniform product is obtained. However this type of crusher is not commonly used due to its tendency to choke. The larger opening at the top enables it to take very large feed and to effect a large size

The feed to a crusher should not contain an excessive amount of fine material; this could be stated a little more definitely by saying that it should not contain an excessive amount of material smaller than the crusher product size. Just what constitutes an “excessive amount” depends of course upon several factors, chief among which are the design of the crushing chamber, the setting, and

Size reduction & control Crushing of ore and minerals The number of stages is guided by the size of the feed and the requested product . For harder feed there is a choice between a gyratory or a jaw crusher.

A Jaw Crusher is one of the main types of primary crushers in a mine or ore processing plant. The size of a jaw crusher is designated by the rectangular or square opening at the top of the jaws (feed opening). For instance, a 24 x 36 jaw crusher has a opening of 24" by 36", a 56 x 56 jaw crusher

It is necessary that the feed to jaw crushers be carefully designed to balance with the throughput rate of the crusher. When the feed rate is regulated to keep the receiving hopper of the crusher full at all times so that the volume rate of rock entering any point in the crusher
